Argelès sur Mer

Argelès sur Mer is a popular seaside resort located in Southern part of France (also part of the Catalan region) and just a short drive away from both the Spanish border and the capital of Pyrénées-Orientales department, Perpignan. With an average of 10.000 inhabitants (called the "Argelésiens"), the city also possesses the longest beach and the largest number of camping in the whole Pyrénées-Orientales department, which makes the population raise to a number of about 100.000 inhabitants during the touristic season, each year.

Also, a few number of former/current French international rugby players were born in Argelès sur Mer, such as Jean Carrère (1930), the Lièvremont family (Marc (1968), Thomas (1973) and Matthieu (1975)) or more recently Nicolas Mas (1980).

Argelès sur Mer is twinned with Hürth (Germany - since 1988) and Montgat (Spain - since 1990) and was also the location of a french concentration camp, the so called "Camp de concentration d'Argelès-sur-Mer".
